Test Engineer

As a Test Engineer, you’re focused on the overall quality of the map product and the speed of (incremental) update releases. Testing at NavInfo Europe differs from software testing in several ways: reality is changing while testing the map product. The map itself is huge in size compared to typical software.

As a Test Engineer within the Production and Operations Department of NavIfo Europe you have a key role in assuring the quality and functionality of our Compilation Tooling, Production Tooling, Map Database products and Test Tooling. Quality of product and service is essential to the continued success of our products delivered to world class automotive and navigation companies like BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen, Garmin, and TomTom. The Map division of NavInfo Europe has an ISO9001-certificated quality system for the entire company and has achieved A-Spice level 2.

The Test Engineer reports to the team manager in Production and Operations department.

Requirements

Relevant duties for the Test Engineer include:

  • Reviewing requirements, functional and technical descriptions.
  • Identifying and analyzing test basis to extract test cases.
  • Create test scenarios of extracted test cases, used for scripting automated testing and manual testing.
  • Analyze results generated from automated and manual testing.
  • Validation of data conversion using in-house build test tools.
  • Validation of produced Map data prior to delivery to customers.
  • Validation of products from special projects.
  • Root cause analysis of identified deficiencies in products.
  • Tracing and validating shortcomings in products.
  • Contribute to further improvement of our inhouse developed tool kit and automation of the test execution.

    Requirements
  • HBO (technical college) level work & theory,
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Unix,
  • Knowledge of and experience with writing queries for SQL databases,
  • Experience with test automation using a scripting language (Python) and/or tools like Behave.
  • ISEB certification or ISTQB Foundation Certification is a minimum requirement,
  • Knowledge of and experience with software validation methods,
  • Experience of the software development processes,
  • Affinity with the automotive industry or navigation data is a plus,
  • You possess good communication skills and have a good command of written and spoken English.

You can analyze documentation, extract test cases and compose test scenarios to support the Validation and Verification of our internal test tools, data products and special projects. You are a perfectionist, accurate, have a good eye for detail and can apply high levels of concentration. You are capable of interacting well with both internal and external clients with diverse ideas and perspectives of product quality. You have good presentation skills.
